CPAP Sleep Apnoea Project

Baywater Healthcare and Pathways Associates are working together to develop information for people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people about using Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) equipment. 

The team are looking for people that have experience of CPAP to help shape this guidance.

FoNS Learning Disability Fellowship dates for 2022-2023

An exciting development opportunity for aspiring leaders and early career frontline registered learning disability nurses:

  • structured around the FoNS Creating Caring Cultures model
  • open to RNLDs who are between 6 months and 5 years post qualification at the start of the programme (working in any health or care setting – currently England only)
  • includes virtual workshops, follow up facilitated active learning sessions, mentorship within the organisation, mentorship at a regional/national level (career planning) and a small bursary 

In this programme, FoNS supports participants to begin their leadership journey by creating opportunities and space for reflection, discovery and learning. The programme will equip participants with the skills and confidence to develop into the facilitative leaders of the future. It includes mentorship and coaching support at a local and regional/national level as well as personal development planning and will enable participants to realise their leadership aspirations and develop leadership capacity within organisations.

Cancer Screening Research – RNLD’s wanted.

Dr. Genevieve Breau and colleagues at the University of Greenwich (London, UK) are currently interviewing learning disabilities nurses across the UK about their experiences recommending breast, cervical, and bowel cancer screening to their patients with learning disabilities.

If you are a learning disabilities nurse in the UK, and you are interested in learning more about the study, please contact Genevieve at G.Breau@gre.ac.uk. If you wanted to participate, you would need to provide consent and a brief demographics form, and participate in a 30-40 minute interview on Microsoft Teams at a mutually convenient time. All nurses who participate are given a £20 shopping voucher.

Clinical Academic to improve education in Kent and Medway

Canterbury Christchurch University in partnership with Kent and Medway Partnership Trust have this week advertised a new short term role to develop education for health and care professionals relating to people with learning disabilities with local people and service providers. 

Closing date for this Clinical Academic role is 19th December.
