Making Reasonable Adjustments CoP Conference 2015

Kent and Medway Learning Disability Community of Practice is pleased to announce the 2015 Conference based around the theme of making reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010. This inclusive event will occur on 17th June 2015 on the Chatham Maritime campus of Canterbury Christchurch University.

Flyer jpegThe Keynote speaker will be Prof Chris Hatton who works for University of Lancaster, and affliations with IHaL and the NDTi. Chris is active on social media blogging and tweeting.

The Community of Practice is looking for local people to present local good practice around the theme of reasonable adjustments, and to share their work on the Conference page. If you are interested in this, please download the below form and return it to kandmldcop@gmail.com before 4th May 2015.

Third Annual Conference 17th June 2015 – Save the Date!!!

On 17th June, the Kent and Medway Learning Disability Community of Practice will be holding its third conference at Chatham Maritime entitled, “Making Reasonable Adjustments” during Learning Disabilities Week 2015.

The aims of the day are for participants to be:

1.  Able to share collaborative initiatives of adjusting care and support for people with learning disabilities

2.  To participate in reflective groups to further develop your current implemented initiatives

3.  To be able to stimulate the Community of Practice and further exploit your membership by networking with other members in a creative approach to problem solving

Community of Practice presents Doctors Workshops on People with Learning Disabilities

The Community of Practice are pleased to share this flyer for workshops for Doctors and other healthcare professionals enabling reasonable adjustments to be made for people with learning disabilities in healthcare settings.

This is a collaborative venture with East Kent Hospitals Trust and other partners including Kent Community Healthcare Trust, East Kent Mencap and Canterbury Christchurch University.

The first workshop on 27th March is already full, however 4 more workshops and a final conference are planned.

Healthcare Passport Research Survey

A team of East Kent Hospitals Co-Researchers has begun work on looking at how My Healthcare Passport is used in Hospital.

The team consisting of Hospital clinicians and staff, people with learning disabilities, a nursing home manager and a parent carer would like you help with answering this short questionnaire.
