The SEND Code of Practice 2015 has been the catalyst for the biggest changes in provision for pupils with special educational needs and disability (SEND) in a generation. BBC Wales reports on warnings that delays in autism diagnosis for children and young people may lead to self-harm and other mental health problems. The article includes the example of a 12 year old girl who has only recently been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome despite having mental health issues for some time, resulting in her missing a year of school. On Thursday and Friday this week (13th and 14th July), Professor Julie Beadle-Brown will be delivering two one-day workshops on understanding and supporting children and adults with autism.

The training is being organised with Kent County Council for health and social care staff, those in education, employers,  families, personal assistants in Kent.

The University of Kent in Canterbury have very kindly offered the use of Woolf Lecture Theatre from 0930 to 1630.

Association for Real Change is contracted by Skills for Care to disburse the Workforce Development Funding (WDF).

WDF is a fund from the Department of Health, disseminated by Skills for Care to support Adult Social Care providers in England with the cost of units achieved from the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), RQF and Learning Programme certification.  Health & Social Care providers can make a claim towards the costs of qualifications being undertaken by your adult social care staff.  Up to a maximum of £900 per learner per funding year.
