News piece: Delays in Autism Diagnosis leading to self-harm

BBC Wales reports on warnings that delays in autism diagnosis for children and young people may lead to self-harm and other mental health problems. The article includes the example of a 12 year old girl who has only recently been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome despite having mental health issues for some time, resulting in her missing a year of school. It looks at suggestions that some autistic children and young people are being missed by mental health

The training is being organised with Kent County Council for health and social care staff, those in education, employers,  families, personal assistants in Kent.

The University of Kent in Canterbury have very kindly offered the use of Woolf Lecture Theatre from 0930 to 1630.

Workforce development funding from Association for Real Change

Association for Real Change is contracted by Skills for Care to disburse the Workforce Development Funding (WDF).

WDF is a fund from the Department of Health, disseminated by Skills for Care to support Adult Social Care providers in England with the cost of units achieved from the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), RQF and Learning Programme certification.  Health & Social Care providers can make a claim towards the costs of qualifications being undertaken by your adult social care staff.  Up to a maximum of £900 per learner per funding year.
