The second in the Tizard Centre’s series of Research Seminars is being held on Wednesday 25 October 2017 at 17:00 hrs, Grimond Lecture Theatre 3.
Sally-Ann Cooper, Professor of learning disabilities from the University of Glasgow, will be giving the talk “Health of people with intellectual disabilities”.
Prof Cooper has published extensively on the epidemiology of health and health inequalities in adults with intellectual disabilities, and trials of complex interventions to improve their health. She recently chaired the NICE Guideline Development Group on mental ill-health and people with intellectual disabilities, published September 2016.
Professor Cooper is also Director of the Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory, funded by the Scottish Government. Established in 2015, it is focused on contributing to a fairer and healthier Scotland through raising awareness of and providing evidence-based solutions to the health inequalities people with intellectual disabilities experience, monitoring and assessing health trends, and translating this into useful intelligence for policy development, use by practitioners, service commissioners, and people with intellectual disabilities and their carers.

Thanks for your interest in the national Transforming Care event, which NHS England and BILD advertised earlier in the year (Friday 6 October, Sheffield), to explore what’s making a difference to transform care and lives.
In order to ensure we have the best possible speakers available to reinforce the agenda, we are postponing until Spring 2018, and will let you know once the new date is confirmed. The venue will remain the same at The Hilton Hotel, Sheffield City Centre, S4 7YA.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you on the new date in 2018.
Thanks again and with best wishes
